The founder of the organization is Dr. Nikia Phillips, DNP, who is a Board Certified APRN (Advanced Practice Registered Nurse) FNP-C, CNM (Family Nurse Practitioner and Certified Nurse Midwife) who holds a Doctorate in Nursing Practice, owns and operates an independent practice, NP Family Practice and Midwifery Care located in Wellington, Florida in Palm Beach County.
Dr. Phillips navigated the challenges of adolescence and parenthood as a teen mother. Her experience instilled a deep passion to help other young women and girls to overcome similar hurdles. Driven by her passion, she established 17 & Me in 2019 to provide support and guidance to women and young girls ages 13-19.
The organization's purpose and mission are to provide various social and educational services, quality top tier Maternal Care, Primary Health and Well-Care Services to young girls ages 13-19, and women that has limited financial sources, resides in low-income areas, has limited access to healthcare and opportunities impacting their health, education and overall wellbeing. This comprehensive support aims to empower these young women and girls to overcome challenges and achieve their full potential.
